Governor Nasir El-Rufai has disclosed that the Kaduna State government is purchasing 10,000 tablets loaded with educational material for its students.
El-Rufai, who announced this when Exxon-Mobil Mobil donated 5,000 Samsung tablets to the Kaduna State government, said the government conceived the initiative to improve learning outcomes and ensure that young students are made familiar with the knowledge potentials of modern technology, especially tablets and computers.
Receiving the tablets at Government House in Kaduna, Governor El-Rufai, commended Exxon-Mobil for rallying behind Kaduna State’s Smart Education Initiative.
The governor added that the successful attainment of these goals will enhance the national competitiveness of Kaduna State students and help build human capital.
El-Rufai,assured Exxon-Mobil that the tablets will be utilized in the pilot scheme that includes 13 schools adding that students in SS1 in Queen Amina College, a boarding school for girls, will flag-off the pilot scheme.
The governor stressing that this is to encourage young females and foster the confidence that the education of girls is a priority for the government.
Presenting the tablets,Paul Arinze of Mobil,commended the governor for the brilliant initiative, saying that the company is happy to invest in an initiative that will improve the overall performance of students.
The tablets are loaded with instructional materials, some of which combine written texts with audiovisual material. These enable students to interact digitally with textbooks and learning materials in a portable Format. Read full story here.
