“We are going to help in order to check the government. Democracy is at work. So we will check the government, vote on the budget and put forward a number of decisions. We have 36 months in the framework of the agreement that we have put forward between Tunisia and Europe and the parliaments which have been chosen to help put all this running,” he said.
A working session was held to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation between the two parliaments. A meeting is scheduled for Friday on the launch of the project with the European Union, with the participation of French and Italian parliaments. The Friday meeting will be attended by the Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to Tunisia, Laura Baeza. The project seeks to empower the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) to uphold the values of democracy and the rule of law.
