In what will go down as one of the biggest blows against freedom and equality in Africa, the Nigerian Senate voted has against the Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill Tuesday 15th March, 2016. The Bill was shot down via a Voice Vote as it failed to pass second reading. The Bill was historic as it sought to guarantee women freedom of movement, economic liberty, equal opportunities, access to education for the girl child amongst other things.
