Lubango — The government has created over 180,000 jobs for youths in agriculture sector in the last three years, said Wednesday the minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Afonso Pedro Canga.

Afonso Pedro Canga who was speaking at the opening ceremony of 9th edition of Agro-livestock Fair underway in southern Huila province, mentioned the juice plant, tomatoes and cereal manufacturing and the farming productive activities as the main generating sources of jobs in rural areas.

The official also said that the young people in the country's 18 provinces benefited from agriculture credits, having referred to the delivery of inputs.

He also said that the government built and rehabilitated agro-industry projects that allow the integration of the new workers and boosted economy over the last four years.

The government, under the leadership of the President José Eduardo dos Santos, improved the production system and structured the farms thus enabling greater transport of products to the city.

The five-day fair will display animals, products and agriculture equipment, and auction of more than 1,000 heads of catle.
