Niger’s’ military coup leaders have assured the delegation from UN and ECOWAS of restoring the country to civilian rule within six months. President Mamadou Tandja was overthrown in Thursday’s coup led by junior ranking military officers.
The coup leaders calling themselves the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy promised to turn the country into a democratic one. Niger has been plagued with poverty corruption and deception and this are the very things the coup leaders are trying to restore.
